What this pillar covers

What the Intimacy pillar covers

Intimacy is the pillar of closeness — physical and emotional — and whether you can be fully present for it. It's sexual confidence and presence, desire, and the ability to let someone in without bracing. Where Belonging is how you hold yourself in the wider room, Intimacy is what happens one-to-one, in the moments that ask you to drop your guard.

Many people treat this pillar as 'pleasure', unconsciously they only allow it once all other obligations are finished. But a lack of mental and physical closeness often shows on other pillars first. You're frustrated at work, craving sugar or alcohol, or experiencing this emptyness at the end of the day and losing your motivation.

In the era of dating apps, many have outlearnt the capability to connect spontaneously, and show our true self to someone who may still be a stranger at that moment. Treat presence and closeness as capacities you can rebuild, your whole self will be grateful.

Your path to seeing results

As we work on a deeper level, significant change rarely takes more than three sessions. This is a general indication of how the H4L Journey typically unfolds.
Get your own H4L Progress Plan
After the 1st session
You'll feel lighter and more joyful, as if some luggage from the past has been lifted off your shoulders.
1
After the 2nd session
You'll overcome habits and patterns that don't serve you, freeing up capacity to architect your life on your terms.
2
After the 3rd session
You'll have clarity about your purpose, a vision for your future and a natural source of energy and motivation to get there.

The root cause

"I just didn't feel the connection..."

Many of us genuinely meet nice people — people who are well-dressed, educated, kind, with a stable job, maybe even good-looking or funny. Someone worth spending time with, or more. But often, we just don't feel them.

Ever more books, programmes and coaches train people to start and maintain a relationship. But they teach the same techniques you'd use to nail a job interview. Emotional connection, anyone?

Where true intimacy begins

When we talk about true intimacy, we enter a space where the spoken word hardly matters. It's presence, vulnerability, emotion, connection — and yes, how you feel one another. It's the ability to hold each other no matter what, to look into each other's eyes for an hour straight, just enjoying the beauty of their soul's reflection. It's the joy of giving and feeling taken, without thinking about the outcome.

Trying harder typically pushes romance further away. The ability to give and receive love is rooted deep inside our core. It may be hard to reach, but it never disappears. By working below the surface, we can realign our ability to connect intimately. We start to feel. And to be felt.

Where this work can take you

Intimacy shows up in three places people most want it back.

Be present, not performing

“I'm in my head during sex.” Performance pressure in the bedroom is the conscious mind interfering with something that should come natural. Lost desire is often a sympthon of lost connection, not a lack of wanting. Due to shame, almost no one talks about this. According to reports, up to 40% of men and women suffer from a lack of libido in some part of their lives. It's probably even more; many don't seek help.

Let people fully in

Keeping people at arm's length is a protective pattern that runs automatically the moment closeness gets real. You may notice yourself sabotaging it just as it deepens. Often rooted in childhood trauma, many of us carry unnecessary armour that prevents us from being truly loved.
We can soften this protection at the root. Surrendering to someone can be scary, but it shouldn't if they're ready to hold.

Let yourself commit

A better fit could be just one swipe away. Social media confronts us with couples who seem to have a much better relationship than we do, and the result is that we start measuring our love lives against a scorecard instead of trusting our feelings. Yet it takes real courage to go all-in for one person, unconditionally — and that's often the most healing thing we can do. Time to turn off the analyser.

Hypnotherapy supports your wellbeing and works alongside — never instead of — medical or psychological care. It is not a cure, and a diagnosed condition belongs with your doctor.

The work

What the work actually looks like

Lasting change here doesn't take years of talking. It takes finding the specific pattern underneath the noise and working it where it sits. You won't just decide faster or sleep better — you'll become someone who trusts their own judgement. Results vary, but the direction is consistent.

Later in your Journey

Life gets lighter than before. You connect more deeply with the people around you, put yourself first without guilt, and steadiness becomes your default.

I was very skeptical about hypnotherapy at first. The idea of being “put under” felt strange and hard to believe. But after just one session, I was amazed. Jorrit’s voice helped me relax deeply, and I felt completely in control the whole time.

Questions people ask about Intimacy

Can hypnotherapy help with sexual confidence or performance pressure?

Yes. Being "in your head," monitoring, or bracing during intimacy is a common subconscious stress pattern. We ease it so presence and natural flow return. Handled with full discretion.

Can hypnotherapy help restore desire or emotional connection?

It works with underlying blocks like stress, self-consciousness, or past experiences held subconsciously. Desire and closeness can emerge more naturally. Check medical factors with a doctor too.

Can hypnotherapy help if I keep people at arm's length or sabotage closeness?

Often yes. Protective patterns around vulnerability are usually subconscious. We soften them at the root so opening up feels like a choice, not danger.

Can hypnotherapy help me find a partner?

Indirectly, yes. To manage expectations: your dream partner won't magically appear after a hypnotherapy session. Attracting the right people has a lot to do with your energy, confidence and self-awareness. All these can be trained with hypnotherapy, and you may soon connect with likeminded people more deeply and authentically. This can bring you closer to meeting a partner who truly fits.

How Intimacy connects to the rest of you

The five pillars reinforce each other. When you can be close without bracing, the social world gets easier, the mind quiets, and so much of the energy spent guarding yourself comes back. Intimacy is often the deepest layer of the work — and the one that makes the rest feel worth it.
